Phidippus Jumping Spiders

Phidippus is a genus in the family salticidae (jumping spiders). Some of the largest jumping spiders belong to this genus and many species are characterized by their brilliant green, blue or magenta chelicerae. They are almost exclusively found in North America. As of 2004 there are 60 described species of which eight can be found in New England.

My photography project is to photograph the adult form of all Phidippus species. I am also documenting the transformation from the penultimate male to adult male form as well as the courtship display of the adult males. I have a search bar at the bottom of all pages on my website where you can type key words like (species name, penultimate, courtship display...etc) to see all my images of that particular search.

While portraits and courtship displays are fun to capture dorsal images are very important for field identification. I will upload all dorsal images soon.
