Carpet of Light
I noticed this tree years ago but have never seen a sunrise here. I woke up about one hour before dawn and checked the radar- clears skies and temp-zero. I figured it would be a good morning to see where the sun breaks the horizon this time of year. I arrived at the location at dawn and waited in the field for about a forty-five minutes for the sun to break. This capture was just as the sun came above the treeline. I wanted to continue shooting but my numb fingers would not cooperate. I couldn't even take the camera off the tripod with my stumps so I ran back to my car and thawed out on the way home.
