Phidippus Whitmani
(adult male)
My daughter Sage found this spectacular Phidippus in my front yard the first summer I began photographing jumping spiders. She called me over to look at what she thought was a ladybug. I had one brief photo-shoot with him and then let him go in the yard. I have seen a sub-adult male in the yard since but never a female or another adult male. It's nice to know they're here even if I don't see them. This is a very difficult species to find in the wild because they spend a good deal of time in the leaf litter of the forest floor.
