Unexpected

I have visited this tree before but never at sunrise. After checking out photographer's ephemeris I decided to wander into this field and scout where the sun would break the horizon and see if there were and possible compositions. The snow was deep and the temperatures were cold and with the wind chill it was really cold!!! I wasn't expecting to find much in the way of foreground potential but was pleasantly surprised by the amazing wind blown sculptures all over the surface of the snow. On a few occasions I found myself staring at the sky and walking right through some awesome foregrounds!! I decided to keep my head down and found this one and a few others before the light got to harsh and my frozen stumps for hands completely stopped functioning. Photo © copyright by Patrick Zephyr.
